Saturday is super important y'all

Just in case you didn’t know there is this whole occupy movement going about around the world and the valley sure has caught that bug all right. So instead of reading the summary of evolutionary perspectives on gender development I decided to post something about being an activist in the valley. The rio grande valley that is. This post is going to be about many many things because

I am at Ihop and have been here since 4 drinking coffee and studying.
You know you love the randomness of my post
I don’t feel like studying
I truly believe in the OccupyMcAllen movement
We still need to get Prez Obama to say NOOOO to the Keystone XL Pipeline……..cause
Both are interconnected and way important!
So here goes my rant THERE IS NOTHING VEGAN AT IHOP!!! But the free wi-fii is pretty awesome yo! We made the cover of the local UTPA newspaper and also they printed out an article about both the occupy movement and pipeline hearings that I went to with Christina.

http://www.panamericanonline.com/students-oppose-pipeline-plan-1.2651936#.TpeLf96ImU-

At this point I would apologize for such a long update, but I am not for the sake that people need to read more!

I am so so so so proud of my generation in regards to both movements. I am glad we are getting off our a**es and turning off the tv/laptops and not just reblogging about people making a change but actually out there demanding for a change. This realization is wonderful and it can only go up from here. We have the power, no matter what other people say, we are the change we want to see in the world. Our limitations might seem tremendous and treacherousness but nothing great nothing important came with easiness. The civil rights movement. The arab spring. The womans rights movement. All and many more were not fought behind the pretenses that if we live our daily life and don’t ask why not and fight for a change that it would just magically happen.

I am going to add a Harry Potter reference because I feel it is super fitting. Harry Potter could have just sat back and not fight for those around him against Voldemort but if he did there wouldn’t be a story there wouldn’t be the courage that he instills in everyone.

We have the courage, we have the ability and ultimately we have the power to change the world!

Friday Lunches!

Chris: I just don’t understand why you can’t have honey? I mean the bee’s use it for pollination…..

Me: I know, I know but I am still not eating anything with honey.

Chris: If that’s the case might as well stop eating things with sugar, because sugar is bad for you.

Me: I haven’t had refined sugar in a week and been getting all my “sugar” cravings from my all fruit smoothies.

Chris: Well than you should stop drinking coffee, because that is really bad for you too.

Me: I stopped drinking coffee all together

Chris: DID YOU STOP LIVING TOO?

lol

So this week I have been in a sicky funk. Runny noses and coughs with a epic day of feverness yesterday led me to finally taking medicine and feeling amazing today!

Rumor has it my Louisiana peeps are going to be at the Port Arthur hearing too, it has made me so giddy inside I can’t wait to see them all (because I didn’t go to Shindig) since Sprog. Time line for the rest of the semester:

1.1 week till the Port Arthur hearing and first night of Rocky Horror
2.About a month till Thanksgiving, and a road trip to Atx with Christina and maybe camping for a couple of days!
3.Cooking, baking, and having fun exploring vegan recipes!
4.Saving up money to travel during spring break =)

Now time to email teachers about yesterday and explain why I was not in class >.<

I havent written in two hundred years.....

Hello world!
Well it was more like a year, but still I have been a horrible blogger.I am sorry to all those in the blogospher that was reading my blog, I am going to try to do a lot much better. I think writing in here last year, has helped me in my creative writing endeavors.Since last May, a lot has changed, such as:
1.I have moved back in the valley and living at home.
2.I have become extremely involved with environmentalism and pushing for the world to be a better place for everyone.
3. Since last Friday, I have become a vegan ....it is almost a week since I started, and I feel absolutely amazing.
4. I realized I can cook and bake, just need to practice at it!
5. I am no longer driving Fiona, but now driving Baby Jane and she is amazing and I love her.
6. OH MY CHEESE AND CRACKERS! CAPS BECAUSE ITS COOL, I LEARNED TO RIDE A BIKE.
7. but my bike is still in el paso
8. oddly enough i miss el paso
9. I can pretty much drive through atx without getting lost!
10. I am obsessed with tumblr, but then I realized it is not really a place to really blog.

Things that havent changed are:
1. I still like making list.
2. I still get the fall allergy attacks and right now its brutal that is why I am up blogging instead of sleeping.
3. I still use "...." in the middle of a sentence when I have a trailing thought.
4. I pretty much like all the same things, books, scrabble, movies, the outdoors.
5. I still want to move to austin.

That is basically it. I can't think about anything else to write about. I guess I could mention that this blog is not going to only be focusing on my new veganhood....get it like womanhood hahaha, I am so funny! This will be more like a journal, and I promise to write in here at lease 3 times a week.

Ps. looking back at past blogs, it brings a warm feeling in my heart. I love memories especially written memories about feelings and stuff like that.

Unfinished projects

At this moment the reality of having the book I’ve been working on since three years ago done by the end of summer is really not going to happen. Unless I just put all the poetry in the past couple of years and make a book of poetry. But really who reads let alone buys poetry in this day and age. I don’t even buy poetry so it would be so hypocritical for me to think that my words would be worth to sell. These characters are as real to me as my own family, and I do not feel like I would be giving them justice if I rush and have a ending that doesn’t seem right. So here I am, with a Russian doctor and lost artist, a broken-hearted boy and a crumbling relationship between a manic depressive girl and a boy.

Its all in pen and paper too, just scribbles of a very angst and emotional writer. I kid, I kid.

Ode to gertie

Ode to Gertrude- Hamlet’s mother
by-me

Oh Gertie
How Shakespeare has mistaken
The power of your eyes
And of your silhouette

You might not be
A lady Macbeth
But you are just as powerful

How quiet you were
My dear Gertrude
How imposing
How sensual

Dear Hamlet
For the love of your mother
You killed your uncle

Was it worth it
in the end

Doubt that your mother
loved your uncle
Doubt that your best friends
tried to kill you
But never doubt the
power of a mother

new poem

Title- A conversation
by me

He sits there
On a bus bench
Phone in his hand
Voice barely above a whisper

As his relationship
And his heart
Cradles on this conversation

Will she understand
How much he cares
Or will she never speak
To him again

His hand his red
Fused to the phone
Its cold outside
And the bus isn’t here
Yet

But time is irrelevant
To the conversation at hand

She sits at home
Listening to his reasoning
But all she hears are pleas
To keep whatever they have
Together

She wants to love him
As the tears roll down her eyes

Thirty minutes pass

The bus is late
Still no conclusion
No resolution
And he is out of words

She is out of emotions

Both drained
Sitting in opposite
Sides of the town

The bus rolls up
He hangs up the phone
Knowing
